Kathleen has been an executive, public policy adviser, and regulator. Her expertise ranges from financial regulation, control infrastructures, and risk management to emerging technology, fintech, and cybersecurity. She currently advises companies in varied industries, including financial innovation, data security, and professional services. She also sits on the board of trustees for the University at Buffalo Foundation, chairs its audit committee, and serves on its investment committee.
Previously, Kathleen was counselor to the deputy secretary at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where she led domestic and international cybersecurity initiatives and advised on financial innovation. Kathleen also built a global financial consulting practice at Promontory Financial Group and, more recently, served as a full-time board member at the U.S. regulator of public company auditors, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. Kathleen began her career as a corporate and securities attorney, was a senior enforcement official at the SEC, and has held executive and board positions at exchanges.
